Eye Care
Specialist eye care for everyone.
Eye Examinations
Our advanced eye test with Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) provides a “blueprint” of your eye. Unlike standard checks, it uses light waves to capture 3D, cross-sectional images of your retina which allows us to identify any conditions like glaucoma, diabetes, or age-related macular degeneration up to four years earlier than traditional methods. It also creates a permanent record allowing us to track even the smallest microscopic changes over time.
Our standard eye test includes everything you need to allow us to check the health of your eyes and assess your vision. From this we can give you advice on eye care and any glasses you may need.
This is the standard eye examination covered by the NHS but we would always recommend you consider an OCT scan as well.
Children’s Eye Health
At Telford’s we offer comprehensive children’s eye examinations to assess your child’s visual health and detect any potential vision problems early on.
These tests involve various assessments such as visual acuity, eye coordination, binocular vision and colour vision. We can then offer our expert guidance and advice for your child’s vision.
We now offer specialised myopia management services to address the progression of short-sightedness in children and teenagers.
Using evidence-based approaches, such as myopia control contact lenses and spectacles designed specifically to slow down the progression of short-sightedness (myopia) in children and also reduce any associated risks
We provide age specific advice, personalised guidance, and ongoing monitoring to promote life long eye health.

A Standard eye test is a comprehensive evaluation of your vision and eye health. During a standard eye test at Telford Opticians we will check your visual acuity, which measures how well you can see at various distances. We will assess your eye co-ordination, depth perception, and peripheral vision. Additionally, we will examine the health of your eyes.
On the other hand, our Advanced eye test refers to a more specialised and comprehensive examination that goes beyond the standard tests. Our Advanced eye test includes additional assessments and diagnostics to provide a more in-depth analysis of your eye health.
Some examples of advanced eye tests may include:
Optical coherence tomography (OCT): This imaging technique uses light waves to capture detailed cross-sectional images of the retina. It helps in diagnosing and monitoring conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.
Visual field test: Also known as perimetry, this test measures your peripheral vision. It can detect abnormalities related to conditions such as glaucoma or neurological disorders.
Retinal photography: This involves capturing high-resolution images of the back of the eye (retina) to document and monitor the health of the retina and optic nerve.
These are just a few examples, and the specific advanced eye tests offered may vary depending on your specific requirements.
